Dr. Rafael Islas

Rafael Islas was born in Mexico. He studied Chemistry at Universidad de Guanajuato, and finished his B. Sc. studies in 2006. In 2007, he started his Ph.D. research in the same institution under the direction of Prof. Gabriel Merino. 

His B.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis were recognized by the Mexican Chemical Society and the Mexican Academy of Sciences in 2007 and 2013, respectively, as the best thesis of his generation. 

He made one-year postdocotral research at the Universitat de Girona, in Girona, Spain, under the supervision of Prof. Miquel Solà.

He is currently a Full Time Professor at Universidad Andres Bello, in Chile. He also has been awarded with the level I of the National Research System, in México.
